Location:   Cairns

Base Salary Range:  Approx. $40,000-$50,000 (+On-costs)

Contract Term:  Fixed Term - 1 Year (38 hours per week) - with 3 months probationary period

This Position, Ranger (Identified), under the direction of the Team Leader, is responsible for performing a role in implementing the Yirrganydji Land and Sea Ranger Program activities, work plans, operational/practical tasks, and priorities. This includes delivering a range of activities in cultural and natural resource management, visitor management, pest management, public and community engagement, and participation in meetings, and events.

Applicants should possess a sound knowledge of Aboriginal caring for country and land and sea management principles, have an ability to work in a team, communication skills, applying confidentiality in and outside of the workplace, and deliver practical and operational activities as part of the ranger program.

Skills set includes sound knowledge and understanding in cultural, natural resource, and sea country management.

Mandatory requirements includes Manual Drivers Licence, working at sea, and undertaking in-water activities. No qualifications or experience is required, but will be an advantage and highly desirable. This position is an Identified position and strongly encourage Yirrganydji (Irukandji) persons to apply. The position will require candidates to be physically and mentally fit and ready to fulfil duties as a land and sea ranger.

Note: Travel and working after hours and on weekends may be required as part of this role.
